Sofia Vergara, Jennifer Aniston and more celebrities have been spotted on the beach in stunning swimwear this holiday season. Now, we're not big bathing suit shoppers here at HuffPost Style. In fact, some of us are still wearing the raggedy bikini we bought at J. Crew six years ago. Our thought has always been that we rarely wear it, so why spend upwards of $100 on swimwear that is bound to sit fallow in our drawer for months on end?
Our opinion was turned on its head on a recent beach vacation during Christmas. There we were, basking in the sun on a sandy white beach, when a family came strolling down the shore. One of the sons had brought his stylish girlfriend, and we'd be surprised if half the beach didn't have whiplash from checking out this girl in her swimwear. No, it's not what you're thinking: She wasn't wearing anything overly revealing, nor was she sporting an enviable six-pack that would have had us groaning (while still draining our pina coladas). Of course, she had a lovely figure, but it was her bathing suit that really caught our attention. A full-piece maillot in a stark black and white palette, the suit had strategic cutouts that were almost avant-garde (we are guessing tanlines were not at the top of her priority list). The next day, she hit the beach in a high-waisted '50s-style bikini. The pretty purple print was one thing, but it was the vintage cut of the bottoms and the balcony top that had us wondering how quickly we could access ShopStyle to search for the suit.
And this style setter wasn't the only one. There were more gals who donned a different suit every day. In fact, one day, we saw one lass change from her purple paisley print bikini to a bandeau-style top and red boy short suit. These ladies inspired us to take our beach attire to the next level. After all, spring break, and, eventually, summer, is coming. Lucky for us, the winter sales are in full force, so those bank-breaking suits are actually on sale. Here, 12 suits that will have all eyes on you next time you set foot on the sand.
