A woman has pleaded guilty to abducting a toddler from her parents' home north of Auckland last year.
Skye Adele Mason, 27, appeared at the Waitakere District Court today where she also admitted assaulting a police officer.
The charge of abducting a person under 17 carries a maximum seven-year jail sentence.
Mason abducted 17-month-old Alyssa Barker from her parents' home where she was staying in Kaukapakapa on July 27, 2012.
The disappearance sparked a manhunt and Alyssa was returned to her family after a woman with whom Mason sought refuge called police.
Mason assaulted a police constable with intent to obstruct her duties on July 29 - the day she was found.?
Since her arrest, Mason has been held in custody at the Mason Clinic in Point Chevalier where she has undergone several mental health assessments.
She will reappear in court next month where a psychiatric evaluation addressing sentencing options will be put before a judge.
Mason will be sentenced on April 5.
