The Federal Communications Commission recently announced that the application window for low power FM (LPFM) licenses will open in October of 2013. LPFMs are small 100 watt radio stations and can reach three-to-ten miles. This is a last in a lifetime opportunity for nonprofit organizations and educational institutions.
4Culture joins the Seattle Office of Arts and Cultural Affairs, the Seattle Department of Information Technology, and the Brown Paper Tickets Doer Program in co-sponsoring a series of free workshops about the opportunity, as well as support and funding available locally for obtaining a LPFM radio license and running a station.
The series begins January 24th with an information session featuring a panel discussion about what LPFM can do for Seattle and King County.
Sara Edwards one of our own?(communications all-stars) will talk about why 4Culture is excited about LPFM. She will provide information about our funding opportunities, which have historically supported local radio and audio projects.
The first session takes place on January 24th, 2013 at 1:00 PM
at the Langston Hughes Performing Arts Institute (West Room)
