Health and wellness have long been important to Jan Riebe, but it wasn?t until four years ago that a career change gave her the chance to get hands-on. Six months ago she went out on her own, opening Gateway Therapeutic Massage on Davidson Gateway Drive.
?Health and well-being have always been my passions,? Ms. Riebe said Thursday, during a grand opening reception.
She shares space with Davidson Development upstairs at 560 Davidson Gateway Drive, Suite 201, off I-77 Exit 30.
Ms. Riebe had a long career in corporate sales at Marriott Corp. until four years ago. She began studying massage at the Edmund Center on North Main Street in Cornelius and then decided to open her own practice.
She has completed certifications in myoskeletal alignment, assisted isolated stretching, and integrative reflexology and said she continues educating herself.
Her services include neuromuscular massage, deep tissue massage, reflexology and also uses an ionic detoxing system ? which uses an ionized water bath to stimulate cells to release toxins.
She has a list of longtime clients and is welcoming new ones. She thinks Davidson is a good location for a business like her, because expanding interest in wellness, from chiropractors to nutritionists to massage therapists.
