Doug Hutchison on teen bride Courtney Stodden: 'She's waaaaay ...

Teen bride Courtney Stodden and her 51-year-old husband Doug Hutchison have been a lightning rod of controversy since the two wed in May 2011. But now, nearly one year into their May-December marriage, Hutchison wants to clear the air and tell his side of the story.

In a Zap2it exclusive, Hutchison has released a nearly 2,000 word manifesto on why he married the then 16-year-old and how his life has changed over the past year. The former "LOST" actor explains that since they wed, his family has disowned him and it's had a nearly crippling impact on his professional life.

"My agent dropped me like a hot potato. My manager, too, bailed on me, with a fair warning that -- by marrying Courtney -- I was 'committing career suicide,'" he writes.

Hutchison adds that he's been called countless names including "pedophile," which he believes to be odd because "anyone who's ever seen my wife can attest to the fact that she's waaaaay past puberty." Hutchison says that he and his teen bride have even received death threats.

The actor also disputes rumors that their marriage is a sham, some sort of publicity stunt. He says that the two are "very much in love." That said, Hutchison drops a plug in the treatise for his wife's newly launched website as well as for a book the two are writing together called...you probably could have guessed this..."Forbidden Love."

Hutchison admits that their type of marriage isn't for everyone. "Courtney and I are not sanctioning, condoning, nor encouraging adult/teen relationships/marriages across the board," he writes. But he says that it worked for Celine Dion and Rene Angelil, noting that the two met when she was 12 and he was 38.
