I don?t really know what to say about this wonderfully written book besides the fact I am so glad I got the opportunity to review it. Well, that and go buy it and read it now! About a year ago I read a fabulous and gripping historical romance from Pamela Clare called Ride the Fire and for whatever reason I never got around to seeking out more books from her. But after reading Breaking Point, book 5 in her I-Team series, I plan on reading EVERYTHING she has written ? that?s how smitten I am with this book and Pamela Clare?s writing.
First of all, take another gander at the cover for Breaking Point. Do I dare say I find Zach, the tortured former Navy SEAL hero, even hotter than the cover depicts? I do! I am not going to go too much into the plot since this is a real romantic suspense with a strong plot, and I don?t want to give anything away. But I can say I adored Zach the hero and Natalie the heroine who is an investigative reporter. Pamela Clare has a really fabulous way of writing strong, intelligent, and independent female characters without them coming off bitchy or whiny. I appreciate this so much. Then when she matches those heroines up with super sultry and sexy heroes who aren?t intimated by these strong women but turned on like crazy, it all makes for a great read. When I finished reading Breaking Point, I was left with the feeling that I wanted to go outside and just kick some ass.
Zach and Natalie first meet only by the sound of their voice while they are each being held captive in Mexico in separate cells. Natalie has to listen to Zach be tortured by their captors. Zach has to listen to what the captors plan on doing to Natalie. Eventually breaking out and free from their captors, Zach promises to get Natalie back to the US, but it won?t be easy. What follows is a wonderfully executed romantic and super sexy suspense that kept me turning page after page until I had spent my entire Sunday afternoon reading Breaking Point in one sitting.
Breaking Point is the 5th book in Clare?s I-Team series and you don?t have to read the other books to follow along. There?s obviously other characters that appeared in other books, and I found myself intrigued by their stories too. I am going to go back and read book 1 as soon as I can.
If you like Romantic Suspense please give this book a try! And if you?re already of a fan of Clare?s I-Team series I imagine you will not be disappointed one bit. (And if you enjoy historical romance, you must read Ride the Fire!)
